Exile

Making its world premiere at Chutzpah! is Meghann Michalsky’s Exile. Selected for the Banff Centre’s Final Tuning Program, this 5-dancer piece explores the boundaries of Meghann’s primal and rigorous movement signature. These boundaries are pushed to their limit to delve into themes of mass unity, euphoric groove, riotous energy, and surrender.

This work grew from Meghann’s personal journey, where wind and water have been a source of salvation. The work is set in a world where water and wind are both scarce and sacred, and where Exile serves as a contemporary reflection on displacement, resilience, and transformation. Dancing alongside Meghann will be Reese Wilson, Kaili Che, Maddy Cruz, and Kelsie Vanstone.
